What mattered

The application still had a job to do.

The IP address-management system supported service delivery. Improvement therefore had to begin with the software already in use, not with the assumption that it could be discarded and replaced.

Working with business analysts, stakeholders and other developers, I contributed to moving the application toward Symfony 4 and introducing SOLID, DRY and PSR practices to create a more maintainable basis for continuing change.

Why I mention it

Modernisation was a route to better delivery, not an end in itself.

The team’s redevelopment supported faster service delivery to end customers. The work connected incremental technical modernisation to a practical operational goal while the application remained in use.

The useful evidence is practical: I contributed inside a multidisciplinary team to improving poorly structured legacy PHP and moving it incrementally toward a modern framework while it continued to serve the business.
